A STATESMAN OF CONSCIOUS HIPHOP.


 Talib Kweli is a fixture of the New York underground scene in the late '90s and 2002 has weaved activism in his music for his entire career, His collaboration with MOS DEF together called Black Star and solo work has spawned multiple albums meditating on issues like mass incarcerations, and police brutality. Throughout his career he has advocated for social justice and black lives matter protests.

Kweli is a "statesman of conscious hip hop". He is also an urgent and vital recording artist who has adapted to the seismic shifts in the music industry and maintains an important presence in the genre. A hip hop pioneer fed on a diet of classic and golden age rap. He found early mainstream success.

Kweli made classic tracks like GET BY a collaboration with Kanye West, DEFINATION a track he recorded with Mos Def and his classic debut album QUALITY, His discography is a dazzling diverse testament to the scope and breadth of Kweli's talent and his reverence for not only his predecessors but his peers as well.

The global influence of the hip hop culture has shaped music styles, fashion, technology, art, entertainment, language, dance, education, politics, media and more. To this day , hip hop continues to be a global phenomenon, developing new art forms that impact the lives of new and old generations.

Afeni Shakur influence on society.

 Afeni Shakur named executor of Tupac's  estate, channeled her grief into establishing the Tupac Amaru Shakur foundation, dedicated to supporting young artists. Her commitment was to philanthropy funding scholarships and programs of arts she,died 69 in her north California home. She was a former member of the black panther party. An artist and philanthropist, she was a also a savvy businesswoman establishing a trust to ensure that Tupac's work will always be protected. The black panthers were against racism and classism. After they disbanded in the 80's Afeni struggled to cope and began using crack cocaine . Tupac was resentful of this as a teen, and the mother Afeni kicked him out at 17 over their differences . She went to rehab two years later in 1990. She was arrested during police raids of  black panther's homes and named in the panther 21 trial in New York city.
